Love a good story? If you answered yes, we have a couple of wonderful resources for you! The Community of Christ Historic Sites Foundation has recently published two booklets containing a collection of short stories from the past. Both books are available in an electronic form and printed form.
Holy Land Tour BookletThroughout Community of Christ history, there has been a genuine fascination in the ancient lands of Palestine. From Orson Hyde's arrival in 1841 to the official registration of the church in Israel in the 1980s, Community of Christ members continue to be inspired by the Holy Land. This tour booklet explores the unique people and places found throughout Community of Christ's history in the Holy Land.
This tour booklet was specifically designed for the guests on the October 2019 Holy Land Tour (sponsored by the Community of Christ Historic Sites Foundation). The material content was referred to throughout the tour during classes and site visits. Although the 2019 tour was the focused audience, the stories and lessons of Community of Christ in the Holy Land is for all to learn from and enjoy. |
Children in Church HistoryCommunity of Christ youth have made an impact throughout the history of our faith community. We know the story of a young teenage boy kneeling in a grove searching for answers to life's most difficult questions, but what about an elementary school student fighting to support his Polish friends in Germany during World War II? We have much to learn from the youth of the past.
"Children in Church History" is a collection of great stories about children improving the world, healing broken relationships, and pursuing peace. We invite you to explore this new resource and discover the powerful lessons from Community of Christ's past. By looking through the lens of history, we hope you will discover connections between our shared past and today's Mission Initiatives and Enduring Principles. |

Tuesday TalesThroughout Community of Christ history you will find storytellers. Whether around the campfire at reunion or over a potluck meal at the congregation, our faith community is blessed with powerful lessons from the past and passionate storytellers who preserve and share those rich stories. In 2018, we launched a social media project entitled, "Tuesday Tales in Church History." Every Tuesday, a story from church history was introduced over Facebook and a dialogue began among friends. This booklet includes a collection of stories posted online and shared in congregations across Community of Christ. We encourage you to dive deeper into the stories and explore the powerful lessons behind each example from the past.
